Recipe apps that work with ChatGPT and Claude, compared
The short answer: Deglaze puts your recipe box inside ChatGPT and Claude, ReciMe is the most-used recipe app and has its own AI on its paid plan, Mealie is the one you host yourself, and Recalo is the one that saves recipes from Google's AI Mode, ChatGPT and Claude and also connects to both.
"Works with ChatGPT and Claude" means two different things. Saving from the chat: ChatGPT writes you a recipe and you want it in your recipe app. Using your recipes in the chat: you connect the app, then ask ChatGPT or Claude to plan the week from recipes you've already saved. Some apps do one, a few do both.
Pick by what you need
You get recipes from AI answers and social feeds: Recalo
Choose it for: Share an answer from Google's AI Mode, ChatGPT or Claude and it's a proper recipe (see how). Connect it to ChatGPT or Claude to plan the week from what you've saved and get a grocery checklist you tick off in the chat. Reels, places and books go in the same app.
Skip it if: You want unlimited free imports: importing uses AI, so regular use needs Pro. Sharing from other apps works in the iPhone and iPad app; on Android, use the web app.
You want your recipe box inside ChatGPT: Deglaze
Choose it for: Search your recipes, add to your meal plan and build the grocery list from the chat. Works in Claude too.
Skip it if: You want to import a recipe from an AI chat. Its site doesn't list it.
You want the most-used recipe app: ReciMe
Choose it for: Nearly 300,000 App Store ratings. On Plus, paste a recipe copied from any chat, and Ask ReciMe answers questions and suggests swaps.
Skip it if: You want to use your recipes inside ChatGPT or Claude. It doesn't list a connection.
You can run a server: Mealie
Choose it for: Free and on your own hardware, with community-built connectors for ChatGPT and Claude. More in the self-hosted section.
Skip it if: You don't want to set up and secure the connector yourself.

Self-hosted and community connectors
Mealie is free, open source and runs on your own server. It has no official connector, but the community has built several for ChatGPT and Claude, from a local one with dozens of tools to hosted ones with sign-in through your Mealie account. One popular server is open to anyone who finds its address unless you add sign-in, so set it up with care.
Paprika has community-built connectors too. They ask for your Paprika login, and Paprika itself doesn't list any AI connection.
Instacart has official apps in ChatGPT and Claude that turn a recipe or a list into a cart. It doesn't keep your recipes, so it pairs with any app on this page rather than replacing one.

Save a recipe from an AI answer
You search for a recipe and Google's AI Mode just answers it. Or ChatGPT or Claude writes you one. Saving it usually means a screenshot. With Recalo on your iPhone or iPad:
- Tap Share on the answer or the conversation.
- Choose Recalo.
- It lands as a recipe with ingredients, steps and times, ready to cook, remix or plan.
No connector or setup needed.
Then use your recipes from inside ChatGPT and Claude
Connect Recalo once and say "plan dinners for this week from my saved recipes". The plan is saved as a page in Recalo, and the grocery list shows up as a checklist you tick off right in the chat, or share with whoever does the shopping. One share button for everything you save
Recipe apps save recipes. Recalo saves whatever you share and works out what it is: a pasta reel becomes a recipe, a TikTok of a café in Lisbon becomes a place, a book someone recommended lands on your reading list.
Once a recipe is saved
- Remix it. Open it and say "make it vegan" or "make a high protein version". The new version is saved next to the original.
- Keep a log of every cook. Note what worked and what didn't, so next time starts from your best version.
- Shop for it. Add its ingredients to the grocery list you already have, grouped by recipe.
